Scheduled to begin service in November 2026, it will connect downtown Rochester, the Mayo Civic Center, Cascade Lake, Mayo Clinic campuses, and the Downtown Waterfront Southeast Area, and will be the first BRT route in Minnesota outside the Twin Cities. The 2nd Street SW corridor is one of the most heavily used corridors in the City of Rochester, carrying more than 21,800 vehicles and 13,000 transit riders daily. The primary project goals for Link are to: Expand transportation options and accessibility Reduce the need for parking. Alleviate future congestion. Prepare for downtown growth and support sustainable development. Improve quality of life for residents, employees, and visitors. The Link route includes 7 stations and 12 platforms. From west to east those stations are: West Transit Village (Eastbound platform only) 19th Ave (East & Westbound platform) St Marys Transit Center (East & Westbound platform) 6th Ave (East & Westbound platform) 2nd Ave (East & Westbound platform) Civic Center (East & Westbound platform) 6th Street (Westbound platform only) Scope of Work The scope of work for this RFQ should include the following deliverables: 1. Station Marker Design o Applying existing logo/ color scheme to top of station marker o Station Identifier design, front and side (side identifier is backlit, front is not) o Digital Assets (for real-time monitors) 2. Standard Platform / Canopy / Weather Shelter Area Sign Recommendations o Two ceiling signs o Wall or Podium sign for inside weather shelter 3. Signage Recommendations for SMTC o The SMTC recommendations should include signage options for inside the larger vertical circulation building o There is also an outdoor plaza area located just north of the westbound platform that will need a few signs o The vertical circulation building recommendations should account for signage both inside and directly outside the enclosures 4. Recommendations for additional wayfinding signage (i.e. incorporating other community landmarks into sign design) 5. Bus Wrap Concept Recommendations for 60 foot, articulated EV buses o Bus manufacturer not currently identified, final specs subject to change 6. Naming Recommendations for stations The RFQ should reflect providing options and allow for multiple revisions. Overall, the work should include layout design through final art file handoff. Consultants should anticipate meeting with project staff on a (roughly) weekly basis throughout the project, with the expectation that the consultant will provide opportunity for project staff to provide input on design direction and feedback on drafts. The consultant team can expect to coordinate all activities through the project contact while interacting with the aforementioned project partners as needed.
