DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Subdividing Room 102 of the Physics Building to create a new undergraduate research- oriented maker space for optics and electronics (room 102b). New work includes addition of a demising wall between rooms 102 and 102b containing a borrowed lite and glazed door; addition of a new fire rated borrowed lite and fire-rated glazed door in the existing wall between room 102b and the corridor; replacement of the sink and emergency eyewash; replacement of finishes, casework and lighting within the lab; and other utility modifications as required to support the reconfigured space and proposed use including but not limited to reconfiguration of mechanical duct paths, provision of convenience power throughout, relocation of fire alarm devices, relocation of receptacles and switches. Anticipated demo includes removal of one wall between existing spaces 102b and 102, removal of 3-phase power supply within 102b and removal of items as required for reconfiguration. Barrier removal scope occurs in Physics North and South at the two elevators serving the project area, at two drinking fountains in the Corridor (Basement and Level 1), and at the exterior approach to the building to remove/relocate one granite block. The new entry door from the corridor to the project area also contributes to the barrier removal scope. License Requirements: the Successful Bidder Will Be Required to Have the Following California Current and Active Contractors License at the Time of Submission of the Bid: b - General Contractor Original Bid Bond must be RECEIVED within 48 hours of Bid Deadline at: CAPITAL PROJECTS, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, 1936 University Avenue, Suite 222, Berkeley, CA 94704. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable
