Little Blue Parkway & Jackson Drive Improvements. The City of Independence is soliciting bids from qualified bidders for the Little Blue Parkway & Jackson Drive Improvements project for the Municipal Services Department. Bond requirements and liquidated damages, if applicable, will be set forth in the specifications. Questions regarding the bid process shall be submitted via Electronically. The City will respond to questions via Electronically thus providing all questions and answers to all prospective bidders equally. Deadline for questions is 5:00 p.m. local time on November 1, 2023 Please submit all questions regarding this Invitation to Bid online Liquidated Damages. If the contractor shall neglect, refuse, or fail to complete the work within the time set forth above, or any proper extension thereof granted by the City, the contractor shall pay to the City the amount specified in the bid documents for each day the entire work is incomplete. Said obligation of the contractor is not a penalty but is liquidated damages for loss to the City and the public, after the expiration of the time stipulated in the contract, as adjusted by duly executed change orders, and will be deducted from any money due the contractor under the contract. The contractor and the surety of record shall be liable for any and all liquidated damages. Specifications or Scope of Work. The proposed improvements with this project will tie into the recently approved Mo DOT Cost Share project for improvements to the I-70 & Little Blue Parkway interchange. This project will include the addition of a southbound through lane from north of Jackson Drive to the north limits of the interchange project. This work will accommodate the addition of both northbound and southbound dual left turn lanes, ADA and pedestrian upgrades, and resurfacing through the 39th Street intersection. Bond and Maintenance Guarantee. The contractor shall provide, as stipulated in this ITB, a payment, performance, and maintenance bond for faithful performance of the contract and for persons performing labor or furnishing materials in connection therewith, with sureties satisfactory to the City and in the form provided. The City reserves the right to reject any bid if the information is not submitted in a timely manner or the information, or subsequent investigation, fails to satisfy the City that such bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations of the contract and to complete the work as specified in the ITB.
