This project is intended to develop a facade improvement program for the Peters Park area along the Morningside Avenue corridor. The main purposes of the Facade Improvement Programs are to improve the aesthetic appearance of the exterior facades of existing buildings and businesses in the Peters Park area, and to encourage private investment in properties and businesses. City staff would recommend this facade program follow the format used in our existing facade programs. ($60,000 maximum award per property with a 25% private match) City staff met with the Morningside Commercial Club to establish the boundary for the Peters Park Corridor Facade Program. City Council approved the program through Resolution No. 2021-0679 on July 19th, 2021. The first round of awards were completed in 2021 and the second round of applications were received in 2022. The facade improvement program will encourage private investment in the area. Several other areas in Sioux City have existing facade improvement programs and additional areas are planned. This project is included in the fy 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program. As of May 19, 2023, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
