With the support of the mayor and City Council, the City of Seattle administers programs that support racial and economic equity through contracting. Priority Hire is one of these programs. Priority Hire provides people living in economically distressed communities, women, and people of color access to work on the city's construction projects. It gives contractors access to these skilled workers. Project Location: Pioneer Square. Bounded by Yesler Way on the north, S. King St. on the south, Alaskan Way on the west and 2nd Ave. S. on the east. The project goals of Pioneer Square East-West Streets Pedestrian Improvements are to construct roadway and pedestrian improvements on portions of Main, Washington, King and Yesler Streets between 2nd Avenue and Alaskan Way in Downtown Seattle. The work includes widening the existing sidewalk and repaving portions of the sidewalk and roadway along with irrigation, landscape and site furnishings for the pedestrians. In addition, vehicular traffic flow through the project will be revised to create more space for pedestrian access and improve the pedestrian realm. Other elements of the work include curb ramps, structural supports for curb ramps at areaways, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water improvements as well as signage and channelization. Additive: This work includes all equipment, labor, and materials required to remove existing improvements at the intersection of S. Main Street and Alaskan Way and install new paving, plantings, and irrigation as shown on the Drawings A/E Estimate Base Bid: $8,350,000 to $9,750,000. A/E Estimate Additive 1: $60,000 to $80,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. For purposes of the Inclusion Plan, this is considered a Roadway type of project with a Past Performance of 19 Percent WMBE utilization rates based on completed projects.
