The purpose of this project is to provide site tillage to former agricultural fields. Site preparation will facilitate the installation of a native seed mix (by Owner) later in the fall. Any question and/or requests for clarifications must be submitted in writing to the Department of Purchasing no Later than 08/08/2019 2:00 PM, CST If any prospective Vendor is in doubt as to the true meaning of any part of the RFQ Package, such prospective Vendor shall submit to Owner an email directed to Owner Purchasing Department, purchasingdept@LCFPD.org, for an interpretation thereof not later than 12:00 p.m. local time on August 8th, 2019. It is the responsibility of the contractor/operator to pre-inspect the site for hazards such as debris, rocks, wet spots or other potentially damaging items. The District shall not be responsible for damage to equipment. Contractor shall prepare soil in areas slated for seeding with light tillage (to a depth of three inches) using various tillage implements including, but not limited to: field cultivator, disc, harrow, chisel, or other approved implement/system. Contractor shall make as many passes through the field(s) as necessary to provide adequate tillage so that the area can be seeded in the fall of 2019, i.e. eliminate weed growth/reduce plant residue, provide a level soil surface, and ensure proper seed to soil contact. Soil clods shall not be larger than 1 inch in diameter. If larger clods exist, Contractor will be required to make additional passes until the site conditions are adequate. It is anticipated that Contractor will need to make a minimum of three passes through the fields to ensure these specifications are met; however, actual number of passes necessary will be dependent on the type of equipment used and the site conditions at the time the work is performed. Contractor shall coordinate the start date of the work with the Owner Project Manager prior to the day he or she plans to begin soil preparation to affirm that weather and soil conditions are appropriate to begin work. Contractor shall also inform Owner Project Manager upon the completion of the soil preparation. Work Site occurs in the vicinity of hiking trails, mowed turf areas, and a model airplane field. Contractor shall take special care to avoid impacting these areas. Any damage to these areas shall be repaired at Contractors expense.
