The Town of Sherman, Office of the First Selectman is accepting bids to prime and paint the barn at Happy Acres Farm at 2 Taber Road, Sherman, CT 06784 Power-wash barn for the removal of decaying wood fibers, dirt and mildew. Protect all roofs and landscaping prior to any preparation and paintwork throughout the project. Scrape, power sand and remove all loose and scaling paint films. Re-set any protruding nails or fasteners. Prime all surfaces with an oil-based primer. Apply two topcoats of solid body acrylic-based stain. The use of spray equipment for the application of primers or stains will be directly followed up by back brushing or back rolling the material to achieve uniformity and penetration. Remove loose putty and re-glaze windows as needed. Prime new glaze and paint all windows. Top of window frames to be caulked in. Cement foundation- Scrape, sand remove loose paint or stain. Wash off surface with a TSP solution and rinse. Apply two top coats of the same Acrylic solid body stain applied on siding. Any masonry patching to be repaired by a mason or another tradesman prior to paint work. All primers and paints on the project are to be from the Benjamin Moore line or Sherwin Williams. All colors are to be approved by General contractor or acting agent for the Town of Sherman before paint work begins. All bidders must provide a certificate of insurance stating both liability and workman's compensation. A payroll statement from a 2018 insurance audit on the painters that will be working on the Happy Acres Barn must be provided. The successful bidder is expected to execute a contract mutually agreeable by both the Town and the bidder. If warranted, addenda will be issued to answer questions/provide additional information. Failure to acknowledge receipt of addenda in the final bid submitted may result in a proposal not being considered. The Town of Sherman will not be held responsible for any costs incurred by the consultant for work performed in the preparation for submitting the bid and for any work performed prior to the issuance of a contract. The bid shall be comprehensive to complete all phases of the work. The Town of Sherman reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Town of Sherman also reserves the right to waive technical defects, irregularities and omissions, if in its judgment, it is deemed to be in the Town's best interest.
