The Santa Cruz Port District (Port District), which operates the Santa Cruz Harbor, owns and maintains a two-story, 20,000 square foot multi-tenant building at 2222 East Cliff Drive (the building is known as the Santa Cruz Waterfront Center). This ocean facing building is subject to the extreme marine environment and is in need of exterior repainting. The Port District is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for exterior painting services. SCOPE OF SERVICES Work required as part of this project consists, in general, of prepping, priming, and painting the exterior surfaces of the 20,000 square foot multi-tenant building (walls and trim). Contractor will ensure the preparation of all surfaces for proper coverage and durability and apply a high-performance exterior paint, suitable to withstand the marine environment. Contractor will consult with the Port District to determine the approved wall and trim colors and may be requested to provide visual renderings prior to color selection. This project will require significant coordination with the Port District to ensure painting activities are phased in a manner that minimizes disruptions to commercial tenants occupying the building. The proposal shall include pricing for all labor, materials, and equipment, based on government-project prevailing wage rates in accordance with the State of California Department of Industrial Relations. The Port District anticipates awarding a contract to the most qualified and responsive bidder. The contract will not be awarded solely on the basis of the lowest pricing contained in the proposal. A sample contract including the Port District's insurance requirements is attached for reference. Bid, performance, payment, and maintenance bonds are not required. The Port District estimates a completion time of 6-8 weeks. The estimated start date for this project is Fall 2024, weather dependent. The Port District reserves the right to reject all proposals or to negotiate rates with any qualified contractor.
