The City of Berkeley is advertising the Southwest Berkeley Bikeway and Bus Stop Improvements project The Engineer's estimate for the work is $2,400,000. The work of the Southside Complete Streets project consists of the following components: The work of this contract includes the following two work packages, to be performed by the selected contractor as a single project: Package A - Parker Street to Addison Street Bikeway (Specification No. 24-11640-C) is located along Mabel Street (from Ward Street to Dwight Way), Bonar Street (Dwight Way to Addison Street), Parker Street (9th Street to Mabel Street), and Acton Street (Carleton Street to Parker Street). Package B - University West Bus Stop Improvements (Specification No. 24-11666-C) is located on University Avenue at and near the Bonar Street and Acton Street intersections. Pre-Award Conference: The apparent low bidder will be invited to a pre-award conference tentatively scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 1947 Center Street, 4th Floor, Berkeley, CA. The work of each package is briefly summarized as follows: Package A - Parker Street to Addison Street Bikeway (Specification No. 24-11640-C) will install bike boulevard infrastructure consisting of striping, pavement markings and wayfinding signage along the corridor. The proposed corridors include Mabel Street and Bonar Street between Parker Street and Addison Street, as well as Parker Street between Mabel Street and 9th Street. The work consists of, but is not limited to, coordination with utility companies, nearby residents, businesses, and organizations; clearing and grubbing existing vegetation; saw-cutting; removal of existing pavement markings and raised pavement markers; removal of existing asphalt concrete, concrete pavers, curb, gutter, and sidewalk; construction of new Portland Cement concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, and median; installation of asphalt concrete pavement and speed tables; adjusting utility boxes and covers to grade; relocation of storm drain infrastructure; installation of pavement striping and markings; installation of curb paint; installation of signage; and landscaping. Package B - University West Bus Stop Improvements (Specification No. 24-11666-C) will construct new sidewalk and curb bulbouts, replace sections of curb, gutter and sidewalk, and install four electrified bus shelters along University Avenue between Bonar Street and Acton Street. The work consists of, but is not limited to, coordination with utility companies, nearby residents, businesses, and organizations; clearing and grubbing existing vegetation; saw-cutting; removal of existing pavement markings and raised pavement markers; removal of existing asphalt concrete, concrete pavers, curb, gutter, and sidewalk; construction of new Portland Cement concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, and bus stop pads; installation of new bus stop shelters and benches, including both solar-powered and hard-wired shelters; installation of asphalt concrete pavement; adjusting utility boxes and covers to grade; relocation of storm drain infrastructure; installation of pavement striping and markings; installation of curb paint; installation of signage; and installation of new traffic signal poles and associated traffic signal electrical equipment and systems. The work includes preparation and submittal of a Construction Phasing Plan, as well as Traffic Control Plans for each phase of work. Work occurs in the City right of way. The Contractor is responsible to obtain all necessary permits, approvals, etc. to perform the Work.
