Work includes Hot-Mix Asphalt resurfacing of Various Streets including HMA Surf. Rem. (Cold Milling), HMA Surface Course-IL4.5, HMA Surface CourseIL9.5FG, Sidewalk Removal and Replacement, Curb & Gutter Removal and Replacement, Manhole Lid Adjustment, Valve Adjustment, Paint Pavement Markings and other related items. This project is located in the City of Kewanee, Illinois on Various Streets within the City Limits. Pre-Qualification is required to bid this project. Concrete items shall be completed prior to the placement of the HMA Surface Course. HMA SURFACE REMOVAL - BUTT JOINT and HMA SURFACE REMOVAL, VARIABLE 0"-1", 6' WIDE This work shall be done in accordance with the appropriate articles of Section 406 and 440 of the Standard Specifications. Removal shall be done in accordance with the typical sections shown on the plans and shall consist of removing existing HMA or Portland Cement Concrete patches from the pavement structure to the depth specified or as according to the Engineer to insure a proper finished cross slope. No payment will be made for additional HMA Binder Course or HMA Surface Course to correct unauthorized additional depth of milling. Any area within the project limits that cannot be reached by the milling machine is to be removed by other means. This will include areas at headers and butt joints, areas around manholes and valves, and along the curb and gutter. At all limits of the milling, a clean, full width joint shall be saw cut and material removed to obtain a clean, straight edge to the depth of milling. This removal will be considered incidental to the milling operation and no other payment will be made. All grindings shall be stockpiled in an area designated by the City of Kewanee and shall become property of the City. This work shall be paid for at the Contract Unit Price per SQUARE YARD of HMA SURFACE REMOVAL, BUTT JOINT of HMA SURFACE REMOVAL, VARIABLE 0-1", 6' WIDE. This work shall be done in accordance with Section 424 of the Standard Specifications. It shall be the Contractors responsibility to determine how the requirements of the Highway Standards for Curb Ramps are to be met. The Engineer will assist only with determining the configuration most applicable to each individual ramp. Construction of the ramps may require the utilization of a combination of the methods shown on the Highway Standard depending on actual field conditions. PCC Sidewalks shall be replaced at 4" thickness, minimum. Any additional fill material required to correct over excavation or to prepare the subgrade to the required grade for sidewalk and curb installation shall be CA-6 coarse aggregate compacted with a vibratory plate compactor to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Asphalt grindings may be substituted for the CA-6 aggregate when approved by the Engineer in the field. Furnishing, placing and compacting said fill material will be considered incidental to the applicable curb and sidewalk pay item. PCC Sidewalk, will be measured and paid for at the Contract Unit Price for SQUARE FOOT of SIDEWALK REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT. The square foot measurement for side curbs in the ramps will be in the horizontal plane and no additional payment will be made for additional thickness of the sidewalk in the side curbs.
