The City of Middletown is rehabilitating the second-floor quarters for the Middletown fire station located at 533 main street in Middletown of approximately 1,600 sf. Sleeping quarters, kitchen, day room and bathroom/shower rooms are to be improved. The fire department will use an alternate location during construction leaving full access to the building during construction efforts. The project will be bid in 3 separate phases depending on funding availability. A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid amount shall be required with all bids submitted. Performance and Labor and Materials Payment Bond(s) in the amount of 100% of the contract sum shall be required from the selected bidder following award. A Maintenance Bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the contract sum shall be required after completion of work and prior to final payment. All bids shall be submitted in duplicate on the designated forms using the Bid Return Label provided as designated in the Information for Bidders by the date set and time. It is the responsibility of the awarded contractor to be knowledgeable and provide all requirements set forth under the SLFRF for all subcontractors and suppliers associated with this project. Bid proposals must be executed in accordance with and are subject to the instructions contained within the Information for Bidders. The three (3) apparent lowest responsible bidders' bid bond documents may be held for a period of up to ninety (90) consecutive calendar days or until a contract is signed and then all bond documents, other than those of the successful responsible bidder shall be returned. The City of Middletown reserves the right to waive any defect or any irregularity in any bid and reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part thereof. Bids and amendments to bids received after the time set for the bid opening will not be considered. All bids must be completely filled out when submitted. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of ninety (90) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the written consent of the City of Middletown. Withdrawal of any bid must be submitted in writing to the City of Middletown. All bids and proposals are subject to, and must comply with the equal opportunity and non-discriminatory provisions set forth in the Affirmative Action Plan of the City of Middletown.
