UDOT Region 4 Equipment Sand Blasting and Painting BASIS OF AWARD It is anticipated that this solicitation will result in One (1) contract award. The methodology that will be used to determine contract award is: Low-cost bid among those bidders determined to be responsive and responsible will be awarded contract. CONTRACT TERM AND PRICE GUARANTEE The contract(s) resulting from this solicitation will be for a period of Five (5) years with no renewal options for additional years. Background: UDOT has a variety of equipment that are used in extreme weather conditions and situations that can compromise the material and paint. These extreme situations can expose the metals, which could cause the equipment to malfunction or the metals to rust, corrode, etc. Corrosion of the metal and malfunctions will require frequent repair by maintenance professionals. For preventative maintenance and after repair, UDOT requires that these items be sand blasted to remove all of the old paint along with the galvanized coating to expose the bare metal. UDOT will then require that these items be repainted. Equipment is initially brought in to the UDOT Richfield Shop for evaluation, and from there is then sent out for repair. Scope of Work: The specification defines the minimum acceptable standards along with requirements for sand blasting, repairing and painting various pieces of equipment that are subject to these requirements. This will include parts OEM parts or approved aftermarket parts when needed.
