The work includes, but is not limited to, the removal and replacement of a section of the existing backwash pond concrete slopewall; including removal of grouted riprap, subgrade preparation, installation of new poured in place concrete slopewall with cut off walls, reinforcing, restoration, and providing all supervision, insurance, bonds, equipment, labor, materials and appurtenances, as shown or specified in the contract documents and plans. The project site is located at the existing City of Aurora, Water Treatment Plant; 1111 Aurora Ave., Aurora, Illinois, 60505. Questions regarding the bids are to be sent to the Director of Purchasing at purchasingDL@aurora.il.us. All questions must be submitted in writing via email by 4:00 p.m., September 17, 2024. Questions will be answered via bid addendum by 4:00 p.m., September 19, 2024. No questions will be accepted or answered verbally. No questions will be accepted after September 17, 2024. To qualify, bidders are required to meet the requirements in the Instructions to Bidders. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Payment Bond satisfactory to the Owner in the amount of 100 percent of the contract amount. Sufficient proof of liability and workmen's compensation insurance must be furnished to satisfy requirements of the City of Aurora. All bids must comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act; and the Prevailing Rate of Hourly Wages in the City of Aurora shall be paid to all persons on the project. Any Bidder who owes the City of Aurora money may be disqualified at the City's discretion. The City of Aurora encourages minority business firms to submit bids and encourages the successful bidder to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction. The City of Aurora has a local preference ordinance that would apply to this contract. The City of Aurora reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, or parts thereof, and to waive any technicality, informality, or irregularity in the Bids ninety (90) days from the opening date set forth above. The City further reserves the right to award the Bid to the lowest responsible Bidder whose offer best responds in quality, fitness, and capacity to the requirements of the proposed work or usage and therefore is in the best interest of the City.
