This contract will be for the replacement of existing ductile iron water mains located along Broadway Street Charlottesville, VA. The replacement work will include furnishing and installing approximately 1,600 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main, 50 linear feet of 8- inch water main, 200 linear feet of 6-inch and associated fire hydrants, water services, and interconnections to existing water mains along the project. Pavement restoration for the entire Broadway Street width is also required. The project will involve coordination with the ACSA, the City of Charlottesville, and the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority (RWSA) for proper construction sequencing at interconnections to existing water mains. This short description shall not in any way limit the contractor's obligation to complete the work. It is the bidder's responsibility to visit the site to determine the scope of work necessary. The ACSA reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any irregularities or informalities in the proposals. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee in an amount equal to at least 5% (five percent) of the amount bid. At the option of the bidder, the guarantee may be certified check, bank draft, or bid guarantee. The bid guarantee shall ensure the execution of the contract as required by the specifications. The contract is to be awarded on the basis of the Bidder's qualifications and the total bid amount as stated in the Proposal. The bidder and its subcontractors must comply with the provisions of Executive Orders 11246, as amended, and 11375, which prohibit discrimination in employment regarding race, creed, color, sex, or national origin. Bidders must certify that they do not, and will not, maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on a basis of race, color, creed, or national origin. Document notes: Prospective bidders requesting printed copies shall furnish their complete street address with zip code, mailing address with zip code, email address, and telephone and facsimile numbers. Contract Documents will be shipped via UPS ground service. Bidders requesting shipment by other carriers shall include a separate non-refundable check to provide for charges, or a valid account number with the designated carrier. Bidders must be licensed contractors in Virginia in accordance with Title 54, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia. Questions concerning the project should be addressed to the Director of Engineering of the Albemarle County Service Authority at the above address and must be received no later than five days preceding the date of "Bid Opening."
