As described in the Bidding Documents, the bids are for a public works project, GENERAL CONTRACTOR SERVICES FOR BATHROOM IMPROVEMENTS AT THE SIMI VALLEY SENIOR CENTER ("Project"), which consists of comprehensive improvements such as demolition, removal and disposal, construction, and all appurtenant work of four (4) existing bathrooms (two multiple accommodation and two single accommodation) in accordance with Chapter 11B of the latest 2022 California Building Code, and Title II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional information of the Scope of Work can be found under the "Proposal" section of this document. The expected completion time of the Project is 180 consecutive working days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Copies of these plans and specifications may be obtained by prospective bidders from the City Manager's Office or downloaded from the City's "Bids & Proposals" website. The Bid shall be submitted and the work shall be performed by a State of California Class B licensed contractor in strict conformance with Specification No. SV 24-31 and now on file in the City's Department of the City Manager's Office and the Office of the City Clerk. Work on the Project must be performed in strict conformity with Specification No. SV 24 31 as adopted by the City Manager on August 20, 2024 which is filed with the City Manager's Office. The City of Simi Valley (City), City Manager's Office, is soliciting bids from qualified firms interested in contracting for General Contractor Services for Bathroom Improvements at the Simi Valley Senior Center, Specification No. SV 24-31. The selected firm shall provide comprehensive interior improvements to four (4) existing (two multiple accommodation and two single accommodation) bathrooms, and in accordance with Chapter 11B of the latest 2022 California Building Code, and Title II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. All work, including demolition and construction, is to be performed in phases to allow continued offering of adequate services to the public. Facility must remain operational, unless an alternate work schedule can be arranged/accommodated. The scope of work includes, but are not limited to, the following: Pre-construction: Coordination meetings with the City of Simi Valley and its construction manager, and provide Project progress updates as requested. Coordinate construction schedule to achieve required maximum construction period of 180 consecutive working days Engage subcontractors & suppliers. Order materials for construction. Demolition: Removal and disposal of existing stall partitions and wall fixtures. Removal of existing plumbing fixtures and light fixtures. Construction: Construction work shall be performed in phases to allow for continued use by the general public Repair and installation of new floor and wall finishes, meeting industry standards for durability and aesthetics. Replacement of existing plumbing fixtures with water conserving and ADA compliant fixtures. Replacement of countertops and sinks and meet ADA compliance. Replacement of all safety hand rails and meet ADA compliance. Replacement of all waste receptacles, mirrors and dispensers and meet ADA compliance. Installation of new LED light fixtures and controls for enhanced energy efficiency. Incorporation of necessary structural, mechanical and utility modifications to accommodate fixture replacements, if necessary. Provision of adequate ventilation systems where necessary. Ensure adequate and ADA compliant ingress and egress to multiple accommodation bathrooms. Store and secure work related equipment offsite and/or in an onsite storage bin provided by contractor in a pre-approved location Ensure appropriate work signage is posted to direct public from work areas for fully operation facility ADA Compliance: Implementation of ADA-compliant stalls, ensuring proper dimensions and accessibility. Establishment of clear path of travel, including the removal and/or modification of barriers and obstacles. Installation of ADA-compliant signage, including restroom identification and directional signage. Quality Assurance: Adherence to relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Utilization of high-quality materials and craftsmanship to ensure longevity and durability. Conducting thorough inspections throughout the project to address any deficiencies promptly. Timeline: Proposed project timeline, including start date, milestones, and projected completion date. Identification of critical path activities and potential factors affecting the schedule.
