UFV is accepting bids from experienced contractors for the supply and installation of two modular, dedicated heat-recovery chillers (DHRC) with associated piping, electrical, and controls at its Abbotsford campus. The work will include new piping and tie-ins to existing heating water and chilled water systems as well as piping extensions from Building B heating water and chilled water systems into buildings A East and D via the existing bridges Additional scopes are requested to install heat exchangers to connect domestic heating systems in Buildings A East and D with the new heating piping, install isolation heat exchangers between building systems, and install a new cooling coil in an existing ductwork serving the Building B data centre. In addition, either temporary hoarding or after hours work will be required in corridors or public spaces to mitigate impacts of the work on day to day operations. The base scope is as follows: .1 Removal of one (1) decommissioned Carrier chiller (approx. 180 ton) from Building B mechanical room. .2 Installation of two (2) modular, dedicated heat recovery chillers (DHRC) in Building B mechanical room as well as piping work to connect DHRCs to existing heating water and chilled water systems. .3 Piping extensions through building corridors to interconnect Building B heating water and chilled water systems with those of Building A East and Building D. .4 Hot tapping and/or freeze tapping new pipe extension from existing building B hot and chilled water piping. .5 Coring and firestopping at new piping penetrations of existing walls and/or floors. .6 Installation of one 30kW electric boiler in Building B mechanical room. .7 Installation of six (6) variable frequency drives on six existing heating system pumps. .8 Related electrical installation. .9 Controls installation by UFV's approved contractor (Ainsworth). .10 Startup and commissioning of all new equipment. Commissioning of controls will be completed by the contractor based on a plan prepared by our consultant. .11 Coordination and scheduling the work to minimize disruption to Owner's continued use of the building. .12 Protection of worker, student, and public safety.
