Sheltair Aviation has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art narrow-body size hangar at Tampa International Airport. The hangar and office facility are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. This expansion will bring Sheltair's total hangar count to 11 at TPA. The company said the project "underscores Sheltair's commitment to meeting the growing demands of business aviation storage and aircraft MRO at TPA." "At Sheltair, we constantly strive to enhance our facilities and services to better serve our customers,"Lisa Holland, Sheltair's president and CEO, said in a statement. "This new hangar at TPA represents our ongoing commitment to excellence and our confidence in the growth of Tampa's aviation sector." The project will feature 50,880 square feet of hangar space and 8,344 square feet of office/shop space. The facility will be able to accommodate a variety of aircraft, including Boeing business jets and similar-sized planes. The hangar will also have an advanced tail door for larger aircraft. The office space will have amenities for business aviation customers operating out of TPA. The project will also have an apron area of 50,000 square feet for aircraft maneuvering, staging and refueling. The entire complex is roughly 110,000 square feet. Sheltair was founded in 1963 and is the largest privately owned aviation network in the U.S. It currently operates 16 fixed-base operators and has a portfolio of more than 4.7 million square feet of aviation-related properties.
