Description of Work: The California Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) Laboratory is located at 18760 Rd. 112, Tulare, CA. The Laboratorys infrastructure was significantly damaged by the 2023 flood and this project will repair, replace, and refurbish existing equipment and systems. This project will also repair existing structure and surrounding site damage caused by the flood. The existing building is approximately 55,000 square feet overall with a main first floor of 35,500 sq. ft. and a basement of about 9,000 sq. ft. The Work shall include all design work, labor, materials, tools, equipment, excavation, shoring, testing, inspection, commissioning, and all necessary general conditions that may be reasonably inferred from the Contract Documents to provide all Design Work and Construction Work to restore the CAHFS Laboratory. The Work will include but is not limited to the removal, and replacement of mechanical equipment, pumps, tanks, fan coil units, chillers, exhaust fans, including piping and supports. Removal and replacement of electrical equipment, panels, automatic transfer switches, light fixtures, conduits and conductors. Removal and replacement of plumbing equipment, gas water heaters, pumps, day tank system, pipes and supports. Removal, repair, and replacement of metal stud walls, miscellaneous metal, stairs and stair railings, ash elevator, wall insulation, doors and door hardware, fireproofing, flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, and shelving. Removal and replacement of all fire alarm devices. In addition to the above, the Work will also include refurbishing existing effluent tank, cremator, and necropsy tables. Loading dock repair and extension. Site work includes repairing soil subsidence, landscaping, access control, site lighting, and hardscape. Only proposers who participate in both the Conference and the Job Walk in their entirety will be allowed to propose on the Project as prime design builder. Persons arriving after the conference has started will not be allowed to submit proposals as design builder on the project. Proposal Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Proposal, excluding alternates, shall accompany each bid. The surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the bid deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in the California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120) The successful proposer will be required to have the following California contractor's license at the time of the proposal opening: General Building Contractor "B" Last Day to Submit Questions: September 23, 2024
