Introduction The City of Rock Island is requesting bids from contractors for a rehabilitation project at a house located at 1530 12th street . This owner-occupied property will be undergoing rehabilitation using Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds to ameliorate deteriorating and deteriorated conditions. All work shall be subject to HUD 35.930 and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The bidder shall submit a project plan using the design standards below that is in compliance with all applicable HUD, EPA, and State of Illinois regulations as well as all local building and zoning codes. The plan must include a clear project timeline and budget with line item costs. The contractor shall act as the general contractor for the project using subcontractors as required. Subcontractors that will be required should be clearly identified in the project plan. Remove existing furnace located in the basement of the residence. Install a minimum 80% efficient gas fire furnace with correct amp fuse and shut off switch. The furnace must be the required BTU for the square footage of the home. A filter slot and a cover for a replacement air filter will need to be incorporated into the return side of the new unit. Inspect the gas pipe and in line shut off valve is in proper working order. Inspect the flue is properly vented into the chimney, sealed going into the chimney, and the top of the pipe has a weather cap on and a storm collar preventing weather from infiltrating in the house. All duct work in the basement must be sealed with duct tape or duct paste. Mechanical permit required before work begins.
