Construction of sidewalks at six (6) sites in Charlottetown: Project Site 1 - Westcomb Crescent from Northridge Parkway to Glenview Lane. Approximate total length of sidewalk 370m. This site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb, and stormwater management upgrades to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). Project Site 2 - Gates Drive from Massey Dr. to Trainor St., and Trainor St. from Gates Dr. to Irwin Dr. Approx. total length of sidewalk 295m. This site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb, and stormwater management upgrades to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). Project Site 3 - Montgomery Dr. from Mount Edward Rd. to Birch Hill Dr., and Birch Hill Dr. from Montgomery Dr. to Maple Ave. Approx. total length of sidewalk 530m. This site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb, and stormwater management upgrades to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). It is anticipated that the sidewalk will be located on the south side of the Montgomery Drive/Birch Hill Drive, though this will be confirmed in early discussions between the City and the successful Proponent. In addition to the 530m of sidewalk, intersection upgrades to the intersection of Mount Edward Rd. and Montgomery Dr. are to be included in the work. The intent of the intersection upgrades will be to shift the roadway slightly to the north, and to widen the roadway cross section of Montgomery Dr. to three lanes - 1 eastbound incoming lane, and 2 westbound outgoing lanes (a dedicated left turn lane, and a shared through and right turn lane). This work will include but is not limited to the adjustment/replacement of existing stormwater management infrastructure, existing concrete curb and gutter, existing traffic signal poles, and the existing westbound traffic signal heads to include appropriate signals to accommodate a dedicated left turn phase for westbound traffic. The limits of any widening/intersection upgrade related work is expected to be between the intersection of Mount Edward and Montgomery Drive, and the nearest intersection of Montgomery Drive and Birch Hill Drive, beyond which point the roadway cross section will be remain as one lane in each direction, plus the new 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb. Project Site 4 - Moreau Dr. from Maplewood Dr. to North River Rd. Approx. total length of sidewalk 405m. It is intended that this site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb, and stormwater management upgrades to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). The side of the street upon which the sidewalk is to be located will be decided in initial conversations between the City and the successful Proponent. Project Site 5 - Angus Dr. from St Peters Rd. to Croker Street. Approximate total length of sidewalk 375m. It is intended that this site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk with integral curb, and stormwater management upgrades to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). The side of the street upon which the sidewalk is to be located will be decided in initial conversations between the City and the successful Proponent Project Site 6 - Scott Street from Beach Grove Road to 90-degree bend. Approximate total length of sidewalk 500m. It is intended that this site will include a 1.5m concrete sidewalk, and curb and gutter system along the entire length of the site. Additionally, stormwater management upgrades will be required to account for new conditions presented by the new sidewalk (including but not limited to the addition of catch basins, storm mains, swale, sluice boxes, etc. as site conditions require). The sidewalk will be located on the east side of the street. A secondary objective of this installation is to mitigate the stormwater issues that are present in the front yards of several homes along the east side of Scott Street as a result of runoff from Scott Street and adjacent cross-streets TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants is currently underway. Construction is planned for 2024; tender documents to be completed in April.
