The deadline to ask questions is 11/07/2023 5:00 PM The work includes construction of 5,600' of 12" and 24" waste water effluent, 5,100' of 10"-24" sanitary sewer, 8,300' of 14" force main and 11,500' of 16" waterline, removal and grouting of abandoned utilities and all additional items shown on the construction plans. US 59 Water & Wastewater Utility Relocations The project is located in the City of Wharton, Wharton County, Texas. The project will include water and sanitary sewer improvements along US 59 from CR 231 to FM 102. Each bid must be accompanied by certified or cashier's check for the sum of five percent (5%) of the amount of the maximum total bid. In lieu of a check, a Bid Bond may be submitted in an amount not less than five (5%) percent of the total amount bid with a Corporate Surety licensed to do business in the State of Texas, conditioned that the bidder will pay the City of Wharton, as mutually agreed to liquidated damages, and not as a penalty, the amount specified in the Bond unless they enter into a contract in accordance with their bid. If the bidder fails to execute the contract and to furnish satisfactory Performance and Payment Bonds and Insurance Certificates within ten (10) days from the date on which the Contractor is notified that their proposal has been accepted, the amount of the check or bid bond shall be forfeited to the City of Wharton as mutually agreed to liquidated damages, and not as a penalty. The checks or bid bonds will be returned to all bidders, except the three lowest bidders, within fifteen (15) calendar days after the opening of the bids. Once the City and successful bidder execute a contract, the City will return the bid bonds to the unsuccessful bidders within thirty (30) calendar days. Certified or cashier's checks must be made payable to the City of Wharton. Performance and payment bonds in the full amount of the contract will be required from the successful low bidder. The City of Wharton specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive irregularities or informalities in any or all bids and to accept any bid which is deemed to be in the best interest of the City. No bid may be withdrawn until the expiration of ninety (90) calendar days from the date bids are opened.
