The purpose of the Gates Intermediate School Adaptive Re-Use Feasibility Study is to determine the feasibility of converting the unused portion of the old school into multifamily housing including affordable and/or senior units. The anticipated outcome of this project will be to develop the framework and strategy for a public-private partnership where the Town will lease the Gates Intermediate School subject to a use restriction limiting building use to multi-family residential where some or all of the units will be affordable units. The Gates Intermediate School is located in a well-maintained, residential neighborhood in the center of Scituate and approximately 1.5 miles from the Greenbush MBTA commuter rail station providing transit access into Boston. The location is convenient and walkable to many Town services including the new Senior Center, ball fields, historic landmarks, the Recreation Center, the Town Common, and the Scituate Library. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all proposals received and to cancel this procurement at any time.
