Roofing Repairs to Village Buildings. Scope of work The project shall consist of the removal and replacement of existing storm damaged roofing and appurtenances at twelve (12) building locations in a neat and workmanlike manner. All labor and materials are included as part of this Request for Proposals and shall be subject to the Illinois Department of Labor Prevailing Wages for such work. The contractor shall follow all applicable Local and State of Illinois building codes. Proof of insurance and registration with the Village as general contractor is required. Scope of work in this request for proposal includes the following for the repairs to the village buildings Roofing Repairs to Village Buildings 1. Removal Activities: Remove all existing roof shingles, metal roofing, nails, and underlayment. All removed materials shall be properly disposed of off-site. 2. Composition Asphalt Shingles: Install new 30-year asphalt shingles on 30# felt along with asphalt starter and ice and water barriers. Composition shingles for the hip/ridge cap shall also be installed. Some buildings may require additional work such as drip edges and continuous ridge vents (shingle-over style) as noted. 3. Metal Roofing: Fascia metal must be installed or removed and replaced on buildings as noted. Remove and replace ridge caps for metal roofing. Valley metal is required at one building location. 4. Roofing Appurtenances: Pipe jacks shall be installed for multiple building locations. A small (24" x 24") chimney removal and replacement shall be performed at a single building location. A furnace vent with a rain cap and storm collar shall be installed at a single building location. Remove and replace 6" aluminum downspouts at locations noted. 5. Miscellaneous Repairs: On a building-by-building basis, supplemental repairs may be necessary such as removal and replacement of rotted sheeting necessary to complete the work as specified. The Owner reserves the right to waive technicalities or to reject any or all proposals. Award will not be made solely upon low bid but rather the final selection by the Village of Chatham Board. The village reserves the right to prioritize the selection of building sites to be awarded and the order in which they are completed.
