The work consists of pavement milling and hot mix asphalt overlay on one road and pavement reclamation with hot mix asphalt overlay . Job Location: Tiger Dr, Pine HIll Rd, Lewis St Question Deadline 10/10/2023 at 4:00 PM ET The work consists of roadway construction including milling, pavement overlay, and pavement reclamation with base and surface courses on three (3) streets. Mill and Overlay: For mill and overlay sections, the contractor shall mill the existing pavement to a depth of 2", remove and dispose of the millings, machine pave a 2" surface course of bituminous concrete, and adjust manholes, gate boxes, and catch basins as necessary. The contractor shall also replace all existing pavement markings on repaved streets in kind. The street to be milled and overlaid is: Tiger Drive - from Fowler Middle School Drive approximately 900 feet northeast to pavement seam before crosswalk. Select sections of asphalt berm and sidewalk will be identified by the town to be replaced as part of the mill and overlay. The contractor shall not remove all berm and or sidewalk on Tiger Drive as part of the mill and overlay work. As the limits of work are within the 100' buffer zone of wetland resource areas, the Contractor shall be required to install Compost Filter Tube along sections of both sides of Tiger Drive as directed by DPW within limits of the mill and overlay work, as shown approximately on the sketch contained within these bidding documents. The Town of Maynard Department of Public Works will permit the mill and overlay work through the Maynard Conservation Commission as a Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) and will provide the RDA determination to the Contractor for their records prior to the start of construction. The quantity for compost filter tube is included in the bid tab for Tiger Drive. Roadway Reconstruction including Pavement Reclamation: The contractor shall perform one test pit per every 1,000 linear feet of road (minimum of two per street) to determine average existing pavement depth. The contractor shall reclaim existing pavement to a depth at least 3" deeper than existing pavement depth, dispose of excess material, fine grade and compact the reclaimed asphalt/gravel material, and re-pave with 2" bituminous concrete base course and 1.5" bituminous concrete top course and adjust manholes, gate boxes, and catch basins as necessary. The contractor shall also replace all existing pavement markings on repaved streets in kind. The streets to be reclaimed are: Pine Hill Road - from Concord Street to the water treatment plant. Approximately 1,100 feet. Lewis Street - from Glendale Street to Prospect Street. Approximately 170 feet. All necessary traffic control devices to safely protect vehicular and pedestrian traffic shall be installed by the contractor as required in accordance with the MUTCD. Police details will be provided by the Contractor. For the Work on Tiger Drive, the Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating with both the School Department and DPW relative to Bus and Student operations. Tiger Drive is the only roadway into and out of the schools, so roadway work needs to be coordinated to not impact Bus and Student operations. The contractor shall also replace any and all existing pavement markings on all repaved streets in kind. No line items are included for any required pavement markings in the Bid Sheets, but this work shall be done incidental to the contract work. Note that there are line items included for "Rebuild Manholes and/or Catch Basins" with units of "EACH." Should it be necessary to rebuild a manhole or catch basin as part of this contract, each instance will be paid for at the unit price bid per "each" rather than per foot.
