The project consists of the following work at the existing site of the City of Kent Municipal Courthouse. Demolition of existing courtroom dais in all four courtrooms, raised areas of the room including the jury box and dais, and carpet throughout courtrooms. Installation of new courtroom dais including raised flooring, ramps and stairs including railings, spectator rail between gallery and well, and associated well construction. Installation of new carpeting throughout four courtrooms. Coordination of work with separate A/V contractor to remove existing and install new audiovisual and courtroom electronics for recording, amplification, and audiovisual systems. Modifications to existing gallery bench seating. The Engineer's estimated range for this project is approximately ($1.25 million). Apprentice Utilization Requirements are mandatory for all public works expected to cost one million dollars or more, in which case no less than 15% of the labor hours must be performed by apprentices. KCC 6.01.030. A cashier's check, cash or surety bond in the amount of 5% of the bid must be included with the bid. The City of Kent reserves the right to reject any and all bids on any or all schedules or alternates or to waive any informalities in the bidding and shall determine which bid or bidders is the most responsive, satisfactory and responsible bidder and shall be the sole judge thereof. Note: The award of the contract will not occur until the City of Kent has reviewed all bids for responsiveness and responsibility determinations and the Kent City Council has formally awarded the contract. o plea of mistake in the bid shall be available to the bidder for the recovery of his/her deposit or as a defense to any action based upon the neglect or refusal to execute a contract. Bidders must submit with their initial bid a signed statement as to whether they have previously performed work subject to the President's Executive Order No. 11246. No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the day of bid opening.
