A dead-end street, Palmer Avenue terminates at the formerly residential 5 Palmer lot which is sandwiched between the Capuano Field at Glen Park, the Glen Park Community Gardens, and the Capuano Early Childhood Center. The City acquired the parcel with the intent to abandon Palmer Avenue, demolish the house (now complete), and transform the land into a community garden. Construction documents for this project have been prepared by Wright Ostermier Landscape Architects (WOLA). WOLA was selected by the City to administer the contract and oversee construction to ensure conformity with construction drawings, specifications, and standards. The Division of Public Space and Urban Forestry (PSUF) will manage the project for the City. The design entails the construction of raised planting beds, water utility improvements, and the creation of ADA-accessible resources to expand the existing Glen Park Community Garden on Franklin Street. A small gathering area outside of the community garden fence will feature an ADA-accessible surface, new trash and recycling, and seating
