City Colleges of Chicago is seeking bids from qualified contractors to renovate biology laboratories at Truman College. However, no bidder shall withdraw or cancel his bid for a period of one-hundred twenty (120) calendar days after said closing time for the receipt of bids nor shall the successful bidder withdraw. Each bid shall be accompanied by a cashiers check, certified check, or a bid bond by an insurance carrier acceptable to the Owner in the amount of 5% of the bid price. The successful bidder shall, within seven (7) calendar days after acceptance of the bidder's bid by Owner, and at the bidder's expense, furnish a Performance Bond and Payment Bond for the full amount of the contract in the form of AIA document A312-(latest Edition). Such bond shall be with a surety acceptable to the Owner. Contractor's Contract may be terminated for failure to furnish Bond. The Act requires contractors and subcontractors to pay laborers, workers and mechanics performing services on public works projects no less than the current prevailing rate of wages.
