We’ve obtained documents for this project and are currently processing them.
This project's premise is to renovate an existing portion of the nuclear medicine department to accommodate a new Spect CT camera/scanner. The project will take place in the "West Block" of the Royal Jubilee hospital which is an older section with thick concrete partitions. The concrete partitions were installed to provide protection against radiation from the medical imaging equipment and nuclear radiation from injections. There will likely be some structural concerns that will arise from the removal and modification of these walls. Lead shielding sheets will be used for radiation protection in the new space. The new piece of equipment is yet to be selected however it will likely require some ambient cooling of the space due to the heat output it generates. In addition a new electrical service will need to be provided to the room, likely from the main distribution across the campus. Upgrades to the finishes of the space (ceilings and flooring) will be required. Coordination of delivery and installation with the equipment vendor will be the construction manager's responsibility.
