This project consists of connecting an existing water main to the existing distribution system, replacing water services, disinfecting and pressure testing, and other site improvements, as shown on the Plans and specified herein. Questions concerning the Contract Provisions will be taken by the Project Engineer at Gray & Osborne, Inc.'s Seattle office (206) 284-0860. The City expressly reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive minor irregularities or informalities, and to further make award of the project to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder as it best serves the interest of the City based on the sum of the Bid. SCOPE OF WORK The work specified in this Section consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for construction of the NE 24th Street Water Main Improvements, as shown on the Plans, and hereinafter specified, in the City of Carnation. Work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: A. Connect existing 12-inch ductile iron water main to existing 8-inch steel water main in two locations. B. Cap and abandon existing 8-inch steel water main between connection points with 12-inch ductile iron water main. C. Furnish and install vertical and horizontal thrust blocks on existing 12-inch ductile iron water main. D. Test, disinfect, flush, sample, and charge piping as specified herein. E. Remove and wastehaul and replace existing water services. F. Install valve box and marker post at all existing buried valves. G. Install combination air and vacuum valve. H. Furnish and install fixed guard posts. I. Complete minor grading and other work as required to restore surfaces to their original condition. J. Complete all other work components as specified herein and as shown on the Plans
