**As of September 2, 2023,this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** Exterior repairs to the overlook, boardwalk, and visitor's center needed. To include replacing damaged/rotted wood, pressure washing, painting, and patching holes. Phase I: Board Replacement and Repair o Remove and replace approximately seventy two (72) 2x6x6' boards and eight (8) 2x6x14' boards on the walkway. The boards needing to be replaced are marked with a "green" paint dot. Replacement boards must be fastened with 3-1/2" deck screws, two (2) each at every support member. o Replace deteriorated boards with #1 YellaWood Pressure Treated Pine. o Tighten flush with 3-1/2" deck screws or sand flush top plates throughout boardwalk. (See attached photo of typical section needing repair) Top plates must have a smooth transition one to the other without sharp edges or splinters. o Replace one 2x10x12' timber on the side of the structure that is rotted and falling loose. o Allow a minimum of 30 days for Phase II: Pressure Washing / Cleaning o Using backpack or garden sprayer, spray entire surface of boardwalk with a cleaning solution of four (4) ounces of 100% powdered Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP) or phosphate-free substitute with one quart of liquid bleach and three (3) quarts of water. Maximum soak time 30 minutes. Follow paint manufacturer's recommendations for complete cleaning instructions and for proper PPE requirements. o Using a minimum 3500# pressure washer, pressure wash all surfaces to remove loose paint, dirt, mold, mildew, etc. o Allow wood surfaces to dry for a minimum of 48 hours before painting. Phase III - Painting of Entire Boardwalk: o The entire uncovered section of the Boardwalk must be painted, including handrails, pickets, toe kicks, surface boards, exterior runners; all horizontal and vertical surfaces. o Vertical surfaces (pickets) may be sprayed with airless sprayer using .015" to .019" tip at 1200 -1600 PSI. Avoid runs (remove prior to paint drying) but spray heavy enough to obtain complete coverage. o All top horizontal surfaces must be either rolled with or brush painted. Apply paint liberally to allow paint to soak into cracks and crevices on wood surfaces. o Paint shall be PPG ProLuxe SIK710-140 Premium Solid Stain Matte Finish; No exceptions. Color to be chosen by Meigs County Government; present color chart to County representative for color selection. Follow manufacturer's recommendations for surface cleaning and paint application. Phase IV: Post Cover & Handrail o Provide and install a 4"x4" Post Cap on vertical posts where top of posts are exposed to the elements. o See attached photo and recommended post cover o Install ADA-compliant top handrail on left side of steps (see photo attached). Top of Handrail should extend 36" above end of stair tread. Use treated 2x4 for structure; 5/4 treated deck board for top handrail Repair/Patch holes on exterior wood siding: o Exterior siding of the Visitor's center has holes created by boring bees and woodpeckers. These holes need to be repaired/patched with high quality materials and the area paint matched.
