UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - WHITEWATER CAMPUS Project Description and Scope The project scope consists of the renovation and replacement of two eleven-floor traction passenger elevators, and one two-floor hydraulic freight elevator and related equipment in Wells East Residence Hall. It would also include the renovation and replacement of two eleven-floor traction passenger elevators, and one two-floor hydraulic freight elevator and related equipment in Wells West Residence Hall. Due to the size of the project work on the traction passenger elevators would need to occur one elevator at a time in each building and be spread over two summer construction seasons. Elevator modernization includes the replacement of all machine room equipment and control systems. Elevator doors, equipment and control stations would be upgraded to meet ADA requirements. An elevator monitoring system would be installed. Fire Fighter Service operation would be provided. A fully regenerative drive would be installed on the traction passenger elevators. Heating and cooling improvements to the equipment room would be implemented to satisfy the equipment warranty. Existing exhaust and heating systems would be evaluated and renovated as required. New split type, direct expansion air conditioning systems to provide additional cooling for new controllers may be considered for machine rooms. Electrical feeders currently serving the elevators would need to be evaluated and replaced back to the source panel if they do not have sufficient capacity to support the new elevators. Elevator machine rooms would receive a dedicated electrical panel for serving all the loads associated with the elevators. New industrial LED fixtures would be provided in machine rooms and in hoistways. Lighting in elevator lobbies would be evaluated and upgraded to provide 10 foot candles at elevator sills. Existing elevator machine rooms should be evaluated in terms of provision for smoke and heat detectors and fire alarm control modules for elevator recall functions, speaker and strobe notification devices and manual pull stations. The design consultant will work with the university to make and document prioritized recommendations for (a) the overall proposed scope of work and (b) the proposed scope of work per building to assist the university in keeping the project within budget. Project Schedule: Start Project: Apr 2025 Substantial Completion: Aug 2026 Project Close Out: Jun 2027
