The Old Electric & Water Facility is a demolition project located at 709-713 N. Independence St. Removal of asbestos-containing materials and other hazardous materials, including lead paint and universal wastes, and the decommissioning the water well are necessary to maintain the site in accordance with federal and state guidelines. The scope of work includes the following major project activities: Demolition and disposal of old electric and water plant buildings, concrete settling basins and ancillary structures. Clean fill, including to the extent possible any clean masonry demolition materials generated on-site, will be used to fill basins and lower building area. Minor grading and seeding keeping the upper site's sloped profile with top soil added to grade would be minimal and only to provide a sloped grade for seeding. Asbestos Containing-Materials: City will contract separately for removal of non-friable asbestoscontaining materials prior to commencement of demolition activities. Other Hazardous Materials: City will contract separately for proper handling and disposal of other hazardous materials, including lead-based paint, universal wastes, a/c units, fire extinguishers, and other materials present including smoke detectors, thermostats, exit signs, etc. Well Decommission: City will contract separately for proper closure of water well. The site will be maintained as open space by the city. The City of Harrisonville will be accepting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the demolition of the city's Old Electric & Water Plant Facility consisting of 2 commercial buildings and ancillary structures. The City of Harrisonville is seeking bids for demolition only. Asbestos inspection of the structures to be demolished has already occurred and removal will be completed by a licensed asbestos contractor prior to demolition. The demolition contractor will complete demolition of the structures after removal of asbestos. The City of Harrisonville reserves the right to waive any informality or reject any or all bids. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid guarantee equivalent to 5% of the bid amount. This can be secured by a bid bond or certified check and must be included with the bid.
