The City of Adelanto (City), California, population 33,391 is located in the High Desert in the Victor Valley region of the Mojave Desert and is situated along the Highway 395 corridor, which was recently widened to help the with City's expected growth over the next few years. Adelanto is a Charter City and operates as a Council-Manager form of government with a five (5) member City Council. The City has an appointed Planning Commission which has the authority to review and approve all non-legislative actions. The selected Consultant will be expected to attend Council and Commission meetings as directed by the City Manager. Recent engineering activities the City has been engaged in include: coordination of right-of-way and design of various roadways within the city limits and Sphere of Influence; review of land use applications for medical marijuana applicants to ensure adequate infrastructure is in place to accommodate them; design and construction of neighborhood City Park and; design of reclaimed-water distribution system to serve the northeast area of the City; corresponding with the State Department of Water Resources regarding water conservation mandates imposed by the state on water agencies, and; coordination with Planning and Finance staff on updates to the City's Development Impact Fees (DIF). The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
