The Veterans Memorial Monument was deconstructed and stored for the purpose of building a new 34 th District Court House that currently sits where the Memorial once stood. The new location will be located approximately 100-150 feet north of the new 34 The District Court located at 11129 Wayne Road, within the Romulus Municipal Complex. The City is ready to commence with the restoration, reconstruction and expansion of the Veterans Memorial Monument. Conceptual plan drawings are provided in this document for this project that include the reconstruction of the Veterans Memorial and the new expansion. Note: The conceptual plans provided were prepared prior to the dismantling of the monument. It is apparent after examination of the dismantled monument materials that the awarded contractor will need to submit new plans for all aspects of the project to the City of Romulus Building Department for approval prior to a permit being issued. Fees for all permits for this project will be waived. The appearance of the newly reconstructed monument should replicate the original monument in construction, in appearance and as closely as possible in the materials used in its construction. Alternate materials proposed must be preapproved by the City prior to construction. Video of the monument prior to deconstruction is on file with the City and is posted on the MITN Purchasing Group page of BidNet Direct. Additionally, an excel spreadsheet of the Memorial with names and location of bricks with each name is on file with the City has also been posted. Final placement of bricks will be provided prior to installation of bricks on the new monument and pavers.
