The work consists of a base bid including approximately 750 linear feet of 8-inch water main installation with water service reconnections, fire hydrant, tree removal, and surface restoration; and an add alternate of 1,200 linear feet of 8-inch water main installation with water service reconnections, fire hydrant, and surface restoration. Piping materials will be furnished to the Contractor by Owner as specified in Section 01110. Bids shall be on a unit price basis as indicated in the Bid Form. All Bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended. A bid deposit shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. A Bid must be accompanied by Bid security made payable to Owner in an amount of 5% of Bidder's maximum Bid price (including any additive alternates) and in the form of a certified check, bank money order, cash, or a Bid bond (on the form included in the Bidding Documents) issued by a surety meeting the requirements of Paragraphs 6.01 and 6.02 of the General Conditions A performance bond in the amount of 100% of the Bid and a payment bond in the amount of 50% of the Bid shall be furnished by the successful Bidder. The requirements for performance and payment bonds are stated in Article 6 of the General Conditions. Performance and payment bonds submitted shall be posted by a recognized surety company having a place of business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All performance and payment bonds signed by an agent must be accompanied by a certified copy of the authority to act. Payment Bonds shall be submitted on the forms included in Sections 00610 and 00615, respectively, of the Contract Documents. Additional requirements may be stated in the General or Supplementary Conditions.
