Old Slough Road Reconstruction Project. Contractor Qualification: Highway Division The work under this Contract consists of the reconstruction of an existing woods road known as Old Slough Road between Bowman Road and Angelica Avenue in the Town of Mattapoisett to serve as a secondary emergency evacuation route for the residents of the Point Connett and Angelica Point communities. The total length of road is about 3,021-linear feet and will be constructed in two Phases as specifically described in the Special Provisions of the Contract Documents. Phase I (North & South) of the project involves the construction of a gravel travel way from each end of the project from Bowman Road and Angelica Avenue totaling about 1,721 linear feet. In addition to clearing, excavation and preparation of subgrade, placement of gravel, other specific items of work in this Phase include crushed stone edge drains, erosion control barriers, tree plantings and hot mix asphalt apron. Phase II of the project will consist of a 14-foot wide gravel travel way approximately 1,300-linear feet in length which will complete the connection between Phase I (North & South). There are two bordering vegetated wetland crossings within the Phase II travel way corridor. To mitigate the loss of bordering vegetated wetland, two wetland replacement areas will need to be constructed as part of the Phase II scope of work. In addition to clearing, excavation and preparation of subgrade, placement of gravel, other specific items of work in this Phase include crushed stone edge drains, erosion control barriers, grass swales, sediment forebay, stone lined flow spreader, subdrain piping and granite bridge curbing.
