This project is a historical window replacement to a landmark building registered by the state of Mississippi through the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Originally built in 1926 as a Georgian Revival style with English bond brickwork, in 2009 the south wing was destroyed by a fire. At that time, the damaged windows were rebuilt in that wing only, while the other original windows remained unscathed throughout the rest of the building. Where these windows were reconstructed, over time, the inferior newer materials have deteriorated. The work in this project consists of renovating existing wood windows, renovating existing doors and surrounding trim, fabrications of wood window components (to match existing), and refinishing and related items necessary to complete the work as indicated in the contract documents. Window Sashes requiring removal for shop repair, or any other reason, shall have temporary plywood closure with both sides painted white installed as a watertight application in the opening. Existing steel lintels shall be cleaned, scraped of loose paint, prepped, and painted. 3. Base Bid: In the south wing of the building, at locations indicated in the plans, repair/replace all deteriorated components including, but not limited to, window sashes, window frame, exterior and interior wood trim, and miscellaneous rotted wood and replace with a new window system and exterior and interior wood trim. Existing plastic sills will be removed in their entirety and replaced with wood sills. The lower sash of double hung windows are to be in operable condition with new weather-stripping. Window sashes requiring removal for shop repair shall have temporary plywood closure with both sides painted white, installed as a watertight application in the openings. Windows requiring off-site shop rebuilding/replacement may be removed at one time, regardless of exterior work sequence. Verify with the owner and architect the window count and locations before removal. This is a full window replacement in its entirety.
