Description of Work: Work consists of improving three separate existing road segments totaling 3.2 miles and two parking lots totaling 0.85 acres. The project area is located near Carr and Brown Canyons on the eastside of the Huachuca Mountains. Features to be improved are designated Parking Lot 1, Parking Lot 2, Brown Canyon Road, Carr Canyon Road, and Carr Canyon Road Additional (See Location Map to be posted with solicitation documents). The road segments and parking lots are comprised of native surface material with minimal drainage features. The improvement work is meant to increase the drivability and durability roads and parking lots. Improvement work includes: 1) Hauling, spreading, and compacting 4 inches of surface coarse aggregate (grade G), conforming to Forest Service standards, on road segments and parking lots. 2) Establishing 14-foot-wide, 4% crowned road prisms with 1.5-foot-deep, 2:1 v-ditches on road segments (See Location Map) 3) Establishing 2-3% out-sloped drainage on parking lots. Main bid item: 1) Parking Lot 1 And Brown Canyon Road Surfacing. 0.75 miles of road and 24,500 square feet of parking area Additive bid items: 1) Carr Canyon Road Surfacing. 2.1 miles of road 2) Carr Canyon Additional Road Surfacing. 0.25 miles of road 3) Parking Lot 2 Surfacing. 8,500 square feet of parking area Total contact time from Notice to Proceed to completion shall be no more than 60 days. Prior to mobilization, the contractor shall submit and receive approval on a Temporary Traffic Control Plan. Such a plan must comply with the most current version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Contact the COR for such approval. Temporary traffic control for Carr Canyon Road will close the road to all use during weekdays except for the occasional use of the road by an elderly resident (or family/visitors) who lives up Carr Canyon. During daylight hours a flagman must be provided at the road closure point (the existing swing gate at the end of pavement) to operate the gate for this resident (or family/visitors) as well as to accommodate contractor's delivery vehicles while excluding the public. Occasional use by Border Patrol should be expected as well. The segment of road involved in the contract shall be fully open and made
