The JSCEE - CENTRAL KITCHEN RENOVATION PHASE II project is a 35,850 sq ft renovation of the central kitchen area including demolition of interior components with some select items for salvage, minor upgrades to the staff entry area, expansion of the kitchen area into the warehouse space, rooftop equipment removal, clean up and installation of new services in the basement tunnel and limited exterior work in the west drive aisle. As part of this renovation, the existing walk-in freezer space approximately 8,800 sq ft and built on a raised concrete slab will be removed and replaced with an insulated floor that would also accommodate a passive ventilation system to maintain above freezing conditions of the slab above. A major challenge is the installation and tie-ins of new plumbing lines with existing under-slab plumbing which were built integrated with existing grade beams and pile caps. Additionally, the black water sewer lines need to be separated from the kitchen area drain and dedicated as grease waste and discharged to a new grease interceptor. Work will be broken into multiple portions as detailed below.
