OC San is conducting this outreach to architectural, structural, geotechnical, and engineering consulting The Outfall system is a critical part of OC San's infrastructure and must continue to operate reliably as there are currently no plans for a replacement outfall. In an effort to continue proper operation and maintenance, the Outfall had numerous inspections, surveys, assessments and improvements performed since its construction. Planning Study PS18-09 Ocean Outfall Condition Assessment and Scoping Study was completed in 2022 to perform a detailed inspection of the interior and exterior of the 120-inch Outfall, the ballast, and all associated components from the Beach Box to the end flap gate. Project No. J-137 consists of two major parts: J-137A - This portion of the project will evaluate the condition of the 78-inch Ocean Outfall (hereinafter referred to as "Short Outfall") and will provide recommendations on improvements to extend the life of Short Outfall. The project may perform some repairs if needed to maintain the operability of the Short Outfall, since rehabilitation of Long Outfall (J-137B) requires the use of the Short Outfall. J-137B - This portion of the project will improve the conditions of the Long Ocean Outfall (hereafter referred to as "Long Outfall") as recommended by PS18-09 Ocean Outfall Condition Assessment and Scoping Study. The final report of the planning study will be included in the upcoming RFP. Per the owner, as of July 18, 2023, the proposal submission date has not been decided yet. The owner states that additional project details will be provided soon.
