The work under this contract consists of the preservation of Bridge No. B-16-017=C-09-006 (4X0, 4WY), US 1 NB & US 1 SB over Chelsea Local Streets. The majority of the preservation work covers approximately 3000 feet of northbound roadway (lower level) and 3350 feet of southbound roadway (upper level) of US 1, along with approximately 950 feet of work at the Beacon Street Ramp and 2,300 feet of work at the Everett Avenue Ramp. The work to be performed consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Erect temporary protective shielding/work platforms/containment as required to contain the flaking paint chips and to perform the work. 2. Place temporary barriers and other required temporary traffic controls along the lower level (US 1 NB), Beacon Street Ramp, and upper level (US 1 SB) in accordance with the Temporary Traffic Control Plan for Stage 1. 3. Full clean of existing steel on lower level mainline (US 1 NB), Beacon Street Ramp and upper level mainline (US 1 SB). Perform repairs to existing steel superstructure elements, and safetywalk elements at lower level mainline, Beacon Street Ramp and upper level mainline. Upon completion of steel repairs, full paint of the existing and new steel. Perform repairs to substructure elements. Replace the third and fourth paragraphs with the following Payment for extra work will be as provided in Subsection 9.03: Payment for Extra Work. The determination of the Engineer shall be final upon all questions concerning the amount and value of Extra Work (except as provided in Subsection 7.16: Claims of Contractor for Compensation. If the Contractor disputes the scope, cost or time associated with the executed Extra Work Order or the determination by the Engineer for requested extra work, then the Contractor must deliver to the Department written notice of a claim in accordance with Subsection 7.16: Claims of Contractor for Compensation.
