This Request for Proposals (RFP) invites responses from qualified, experienced professional design consultants to develop a universally accessible (UA), ADA compliant, playground design at Sam Michaels Park. Questions concerning this RFP must be made via email per the schedule outlined below. Responses to all submitted questions will be posted website. Questions due: Friday, June 16, 2023 The Jefferson County Parks & Recreation Commission desires to purchase and have installed a playground structure that is inclusive, ADA accessible, unique, eye catching, aesthetically pleasing and safe for children. Playground will have poured in place surfacing or a combination surfacing. The proposer will be required to provide sufficient documentation to define the items being provided in this scope of work. Such documentation may include, but is not limited to, vendor catalog sheets, general date sheets, drawings and sketches or specification and warranty information. 1. The amount budgeted for this purchase is not to exceed $130,000 with delivery and installation to be made no later than Spring 2024. A Fall 2023 installation is preferred. Liquidated damages of up to $100 per day will be assessed if project is not completed by the due date. 2. Vendors should include either pictures of their play structures or 3 dimensional drawings of what is being proposed. 3. Vendors will be required to provide a supervisor for installation. Attention is directed to the fact that this project will be undertaken with public funding. All work must be performed in accordance with the rules and regulations of all public agencies, including Jefferson County, WV; the State of West Virginia, and the Federal Government. Current prevailing wage rates are applicable to this work. Contractors submitting bids for this project must be licensed and insured to work in the State of West Virginia. Site Specifications 1. Playground Components (desirables/minimum requirements): a. Recommended for ages 2-12. b. Equipment must fit in an area that is approximately 80x100 c. Poured in place d. Inclusive/Adaptive components e. Handicap swing and/or generational swing. f. At least two slides. g. At least three sensory elements. h. Must have at least two overhead/upper body climbing components and two ground level components. . Approximately 12 play elements are desired. j. All handrails and gripping surfaces shall have a texture.
