The La Palma Promenade & Swan Parking Lot project will convert North La Palma Parkway, from a two-way street, into a one-way tree-lined, pedestrian and bicycle friendly green corridor; improvements on Swan Street include new shade trees, drought-tolerant plantings, rain gardens, and converting the Swan parking lot into an appealing and environmentally friendly "green parking lot." The project will not only enhance the pedestrian / vehicular / user experience in and around La Palma Park, but will also improve access to recreation, promote environmental stewardship, and improve pedestrian safety and connectivity throughout the area. Work consists of asphalt concrete pavement resurfacing within the existing right-of-way, removal and reconstruction of ADA access ramps, curb and gutter, and concrete sidewalks, flow-through curb extensions, adjustment of utility structures, pavers, decorative thermoplastic crosswalks, traffic striping and pavement markings, signage and striping, monument sign, new landscaping and irrigation, decomposed granite, decorative lighting, parking lot lights, fencing, furnishings, and other appurtenant work. The City reserves the right to reduce or waive these requirements if determined to be in its best interest.
