The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The Housing Project No. 2 project site is located on a 2.8-acre site bounded by Haste Street on the north, Bowditch Street on the east, Dwight Way on the south and commercial properties on the west. The site is located three blocks south of the Berkeley campus and adjacent to the Telegraph Avenue commercial district. The project includes student housing to accommodate up to 1,100 beds in apartment-style units and associated amenities such as study rooms and lounges, laundry facilities, and fitness space. The building will include outdoor resident space, office space, event and meeting space, and a market-style retail food space on the ground floor.
