This project will construct a new 47,000 ASF/65,500 GSF Integrated Sciences and Engineering Building (#36) to support the campus enrollment growth, address impacted academic program in Engineering, provide teaching and learning space for three new academic programs - Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, and address space need for 40-48 station size of lecture, teaching lab and faculty office. The project is supported by the recent systemwide Capacity Assessment Study which identified strong projected occupational demand for computer science and math workers and Engineers. This project will provide 555 FTE (391 FTE in lecture, 115 FTE in lower divisionlaboratory, 49 FTE in upper division laboratory), 70 faculty offices, student research laboratories for computer science (including computer engineering), software engineering, and electrical engineering. This Project is in included in the city's 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Per the owner, as of July 25, 2023, this project has received some funds for design, but has not yet selected a design team. The RFQ/RFP process may be starting soon but a team may not be selected until mid-fall 2023. It will be at least 1-2 years before construction funding is available. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
