This project entails installation of supplemental safety measures on three at-grade crossings in the City of Emeryville. The specific at-grade crossings included in this project are: o Shellmound Street at 65th Street o Shellmound Street at 66th Street o Shellmound Street at 67th Street This project also includes traffic signal improvements at three intersections in the City of Emeryville. The specific intersections included in this project are: o Shellmound Street at 65th Street o Shellmound Street at 67th Street o Hollis Street at 67th Street This project generally includes, but is not limited to, the reconstruction of asphalt pavement; reconstruction of concrete curb/gutter/sidewalk; replacement of traffic striping and markings; installation of traffic signal systems; and installation of signs. The project also includes coordination with Union Pacific Railroad forces which will be installing new rail signal equipment, gates, track panels, conduits, and electrical equipment. The railroad portion of work is not included in the scope of work for this construction contract procurement. Bidders and their proposed subcontractors shall hold such licenses as may be required by the laws of the State of California for the performance of the work specified in the Contract Documents. Bidders bidding as the prime Contractor shall possess a valid California State Contractor's License, Classification A - General Engineering, C12 - Earthwork and Paving, or C32 - Parking and Highway Improvement at the time of contract award and throughout the Contract term. The Contractor will also be required to ensure that all subcontractors working on the project are holding valid licenses suitable for their trade. Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty in the form of Cash, Bidder's Bond, Certified Check or Cashier's Check in an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the Total Bid Price. The Bid Guaranty will be retained and applied to any and all damages sustained by the City in the event that the successful Bidder fails or refuses to enter into the Contract awarded to it or furnish all required bonds and certificates of Insurance. All questions prior to award of the Contract shall be directed to the Project Manager Ryan O'Connell roconnell@emeryville.org. The deadline for submissions of initial questions and clarifications concerning theContract Documents is January 7, 2022, at 5:00pm. Only signed Addenda issued by the City Engineer or Project Engineer are binding.
