The NCC is soliciting interest in one or both of the following sites as part of this REI: Major Events Centre site (Parcels A2-4): 2.56 hectares (6.32 acres) LeBreton Place (Parcel AD1): 0.5 hectare (1.2 acres) These sites will become anchors for the surrounding development, which is planned as one of the most sustainable and inclusive communities in Canada. It will become home to approximately 7,500 residents and almost 4,000 workers. TIMELINE: As of June 2022, The NCC have entered into an agreement with a group led by the Ottawa Senators for the development of a major event centre at LeBreton Flats. This initiative will bring a significant and exciting venue to one of Canada’s premier city-building projects. The group is proposing to build an NHL hockey arena and events venue, surrounded by mixed-use development. The project would be located on Albert Street, between Preston Street and City Centre Avenue. The NCC has identified the Team as CSDI Partners (Capital Sports Development Inc.) a group led by the Ottawa Senators NHL hockey team, today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) toward the development of a major event centre at LeBreton Flats. This initiative will bring a significant and exciting venue to one of Canada’s premier city-building projects. CDSI includes Sterling Project Development (Real Estate Management), Populous (Design Firm), Tipping Point Sports (Boutique sports finance & advisory firm) & Live Nation. CSDI will develop a detailed concept and implementation plan, and will submit them for federal and municipal approval. On September 20, 2024 a joint statement was released, The National Capital Commission (NCC) and Capital Sports Development Inc. (CSDI) are pleased to announce they have reached an agreement in principle regarding the sale of land to bring a major events centre and arena district to LeBreton Flats. With the start of the due diligence period, the NCC and CSDI will now work together to outline next steps and project timelines. Updates may be available spring 2025.
