Reconstruction of the Highway 40 L'Île-aux-Tourtes bridge connecting the western tip of the Montreal island, spanning the Lake of Two Mountains between Senneville, and Vaudreuil-Dorion. The scope of the project includes the replacement of the existing bridge by a new 2-km long 45-meter wide structure with three lanes in each direction, including a reserved lane for buses, and a bicycle/pedestrian path. The new structure will be built north of the current route and will consist of two separate three-lane decks. Although the new structure is 1.9 kilometers in length, work will have to be carried out over 4.5 kilometers to connect it to Highway 40. During the construction some actions will be carried out to capture, reduce and offset emissions. The owner expects that the new project will be a carbon neutral one. Once the new bridge is completed, the old one will be demolished. TIMELINE: The owner has awarded a consortium Groupe Nouveau Pont Île-aux-Tourtes inc including the firms Dragados Canada, Excavation Roxboro and Construction Demathieu & Bard (CDB) for design, construction and financing in the framework of the reconstruction project of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge located in the municipalities of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Senneville and Sainte-Anne- de-Bellevue, administrative region of Montérégie and Montreal, provincial electoral division of Vaudreuil and Jacques-Cartier, MRC Vaudreuil - Soulanges. Note: The project value amounts to $2.3 billion, entirely financed by the Government of Quebec. This amount includes the build-design-finance contract, but also professional fees and costs for related activities, such as moving utility equipment.
