The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority ("VTA") is requesting sealed written bids from responsive and responsible qualified firms for the project "King Road at Alum Rock Ave Bus Stop Improvements". Work consists of, but is not limited to furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, services, supervision, and incidentals necessary to excavate Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement, sidewalk, driveway, curb, gutter, and base; excavate asphalt concrete and base; remove and salvage a trash receptacle and bench; construct a PCC sidewalk, driveway, and bus pad with monolithic curb and valley gutter; construct an asphalt pavement conform; install VTA-furnished shelter and benches; install lane striping and pre-formed thermoplastic green bike lane including bike symbols, legends and arrows. The Bidder itself, as prime contractor, must possess a Class A General Engineering license. The contract is for 90 calendar days. The estimated cost of the Project is in the range of $340,000.00 to $375,000.00. Each Bid must be accompanied by a certified check, a cashier's check or a bidder's bond in the sum of not less than 5% of the Total Bid Price. NOW THEREFORE, if the aforesaid Principal shall not withdraw said Bid within 120 calendar days after said opening, and shall within the period specified therefore, or if no period be specified, within six (6) working days after the prescribed forms are presented to Principal for signature, enter into a written contract with VTA in the prescribed form in accordance with the Bid as accepted ("Contract"), submit the required insurance certificates and file two bonds with VTA; a Performance Bond in the amount of 100% of the Total Contract Price to guarantee faithful performance of the Work under the Contract and a Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the Total Contract Price to guarantee payment for labor and materials, as required by law, or in the event of the withdrawal of said Bid within the period specified or the failure to enter into such Contract and give such bonds and insurance within the time specified, if the Principal shall pay VTA the difference between the amount specified in said Bid and the amount for which VTA may procure the required work, if the latter amount be in excess of the former, together with all costs incurred by VTA in again calling for bids, should that become necessary, then the above obligation shall be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and effect. VTA reserves the right to cancel the procurement, to reject any and all Bids, or to negotiate separately in any manner necessary to serve the best interests of VTA, in accordance with applicable law.
