Future alterations at Ashbridges Bay Treatment plant. Although the grit removal systems in both buildings were upgraded with newer equipment and technology, the effectiveness of the enhanced grit removal systems on protecting downstream equipment during normal operation has yet to be confirmed due to ongoing construction in the plant that resulted frequent screens and grit diversions in the past few years. TIMELINE: The civil engineer is undertaking a review of recently completed upgrades in P Building and D Building, the owner intends to conduct a comprehensive grit study to evaluate and optimize the performance of the grit removal systems in both P and D Building. The key study objectives include Establishing the general characteristics of grit present in the raw sewage received. Determine if there are significant differences in grit characteristics associated with a) Seasonal variation. b) Dry weather and wet weather flow. Completion is expected late 2023. Further project schedules will be determined pending completion and approval of the study expected early 2024. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
